Custom-Made Compounded Prescriptions Print E-mail

The Problem:

You go to great length to determine the most effective drug treatment for you patients. But, occasionally you see a patient who requires a drug, strength, or route of administration not produced by drug manufacturers.

In the past, physicians wrote “Compounded” prescriptions to solve such problems. But today’s pharmacists rarely have the time, interest or technology to compound these prescriptions.

The Solution:

University Compounding Pharmacies! We’re a pharmacy that offers professional prescription compounding services utilizing the latest technologies. We’re members of an organization of compounding pharmacists that provides modern training, state-of–the-art technology and compounding supplies for its members.

Our pharmacists have attended post-graduate training to learn new techniques in compounding

A staff of pharmaceutical chemists are available to us for formulation consultation. Backed with this advanced technology and a complete stock of raw chemicals, formulas and equipment, we can compound most medications

Rationale for Compounding:

Strengths not commercially available. Compounding assures all of your patients can have precisely the dose they need

Form not commercially available. Compounding gives you the choice of the best drug delivery system for your patient, whether oral, injection, suppository or transdermal cream.  Compounding makes available to you drugs not manufactured and dosage forms you’ve learned about in journals, at seminars and from other physicians.

Undesirable flavor. Increase patient compliance, especially with finicky children, by ordering delicious flavors that kids (and adults) really love.

Alter the usual route of administration. Our pharmacists compound your active ingredients into sublinqual tablets, injectables, transdermal creams and suppositories for patients who cannot tolerate traditional routes of administration.

Eliminate preservatives, dyes and other potential allergens. Asthmatics and hyperallergic patients often benefit from prescriptions that are compounded dye-free, or preservative-free or use alternative excipients.

Sugar intolerance. Compounded syrups with non-carbohydrate sweeteners help diabetics control blood-glucose levels.

Discontinued drugs. Occasionally, drug companies discontinue production of perfectly effective drugs which have ceased to be profitable. When this occurs, simply write a compounded prescription and our pharmacist will duplicate the formula. Because extra time is required to formulate compounded prescriptions, we recommend you phone compounded prescriptions directly to us. Then we can contact your patient and make special arrangement to convenient pick-up, delivery, or next-day UPS.
